swiper-pagination-white\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">It\u2019s Shark Tank with a Tiger twist \u2014 featuring <a href=\"https:\/\/business.pacific.edu\/business\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Eberhardt School of Business<\/a> students! The participants of last week\u2019s \u201cTiger Tank,\u201d were students from BUSI 143. The experiential learning course covers each step of the product innovation process, from idea generation to prototype building.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacific.edu\/university-libraries\/services\/the-cube.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Cube<\/a>, an innovative technology center in the William Holt Knox Memorial Library and Learning Center hosted Tiger Tank. The students divided into four groups that then pitched their products to \u201csharks\u201d (and any interested Pacifican who stopped by) through poster presentations. After visiting each group, attendees cast their vote for their favorite product. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\u201cIt was really cool to start from just an idea and have it build,\u201d said marketing and business analytics major Nathan Yep &#8217;22. \u201cAnd then, all of the sudden, we had a prototype that we designed ourselves.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Yep and his teammates designed a toothbrush for individuals who struggle with hand tremors due to Parkinson\u2019s disease. &nbsp;They called it the SteadyBrush and used The Cube&#8217;s 3D printer to create a prototype.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\u201cIt was really cool to see it go from the design to seeing it in 3D. I took a class that involved 3D printing in the past, but this was the first time I used 3D printing to create my own product, so it was pretty cool,\u201d said Yep.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Innovation and social impact<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Beyond innovation and revenue potential, each group also aimed to make a positive impact on the world with their projects. They each identified a community they could assist and worked to design products to help their targeted demographics. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\u201cIn the beginning of the semester, we had a guest speaker who came in, and she talked to our entire class about her experiences with product innovation,\u201d said Ranier Sadang, a fourth-year marketing student, who worked on FitSync, a yoga instruction app for those who are hard of hearing. \u201cShe\u2019s somebody who works very closely with people who have disabilities, and she said that they\u2019re definitely a great start for us to start thinking about, if we were to actually create a product, how can we be more inclusive towards people who have disabilities.\u201d &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tiger Tank projects<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Tiger Tank product innovations included:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>SteadyBrush,<\/strong> a toothbrush with features designed to help people with Parkinson\u2019s disease and other conditions that cause hand tremors;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>O2 Backpacks, <\/strong>oxygen tank carriers strategically designed for school children with respiratory issues;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>FitSynch,<\/strong> a fitness app that aims to bring yoga to the deaf community;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Senior Tech Care App,<\/strong> connects users from the elderly community to tech assistance. &nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/tv\/Cc06a_ujp-t\/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Eberhardt School of Business\u2019s Instagram<\/a> for an inside look at the poster presentations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s Shark Tank with a Tiger twist \u2014 featuring Eberhardt School of Business students!
